In Jewish mysticism, there is an ancient tradition, known as "Uplifting the Sparks"-- where hidden sparks of light are concealed in darkness, and each individual's task is to uplift these hidden sparks. We take this as our starting point in bringing attention and giving new meaning to content that has been marginalized, excluded or forgotten. We will showcase female composers of classical music that are lesser known because they were women, but deserve our attention because of their significant creative compositions. The performance will be integrated with text discourse drawing on related themes and content including from authors who lived in Switzerland or had Swiss-Munich connections.
